CDD/ECMC Newcastle Workshop summary, 22 June 2017
Following on from the success of the first workshop in London earlier this year, CRUK’s Centre for Drug Development (CDD), in collaboration with the ECMC Programme Office, hosted a second workshop, ‘Delivery of Early Phase Trials: How can we excel?’, in Newcastle on 22 June 2017.
The workshops formed part of the celebration of CDD’s 25th and ECMC’s 10th anniversary, and provided a great opportunity for CDD and ECMC to showcase the amazing work they do in collaboration, not only with each other, but with many clinical centres across the UK. An example of this is the story of rucaparib, which was brilliantly presented by Professor Ruth Plummer.
Experts in the areas of protocol development, data management, PK/PD sampling and technology shared their experiences and presented their ideas on what the future holds. With 60 delegates from across ECMC site teams, the Newcastle workshop proved to be a great environment to discuss process improvements and learn best practice from others, as well as celebrate everyone’s hard work.
Feedback from delegates included “I enjoyed hearing about the wider picture of research. The day was well organised and smoothly run.” and “Excellent expertise of presenters and very aspirational talks.”
We are keen to hear topics you would like to see covered in future workshops. Please send your ideas through to Helen Wilkinson (helen.wilkinson@cancer.org.uk).
