Cardiff ECMC has begun setting up an ECMC Haematology network, encompassing all haematologic malignancies

As part of the new quinquennium, Cardiff ECMC has begun setting up an ECMC Haematology network.

The main purpose of the network is to promote haematology activities within the ECMC, and consider ways in which a collective group can:

· Attract more early-phase haematology trials within the ECMC and share information about them

· Initiate academic early-phase trials (ideas and proposals, joining up infrastructure etc)

· Link up clinical trials with preclinical translational research activities in different centres

· Learn from and integrate existing regional activities

· Consider joint activities on academic drug development

· Scope international academic collaborations re: early phase trials activity

· Interact with other networks within ECMC such as Paediatric and Precision Medicine

· Identify how ECMC Haematology Network activities could feed into the NCRI trials portfolio

· Identify activities relating to the Trials Acceleration Programme.

An initial meeting at EHA, Madrid (June 2017) is scheduled to select and prioritise those areas most relevant for the overall strategy, and discuss how to move forward in developing a strategy. The meeting will also decide on aims, agenda and format for a larger face-to-face meeting which will be held in Cardiff, in October.
